In my 10 years of video production, I've found one quality that consistently makes imagery resonate: sincerity. Sincerity is honesty. Honesty is truthfulness. If you show people the truth, your images will stay with them. They'll engage and identify with you. It doesn't matter if you reveal the best truth, the most outrageous truth or the most obvious truth – all that matters is that you are honest. Whether your honesty is beautiful, funny or poignant, the goal is the same – to connect with people.
